Good morning Sycamore Class!

What is the date today?

Have you played a trick on anyone or been tricked yourself?

No tricks from me, to you! I do have a treat for you all is your last day of Home Learning for a while because, at the end of today's Home Learning, it is the start of the Easter Holidays!

I'm so pleased that the last day of term is a Wednesday because it is Well Being Wednesday.

As always, remember you do not have to complete all of these activities. I've tried to include a variety for you to pick from.

You might even want to do some of these from today (or even ones that Mrs Monsey and I have set for you already on other days) and complete them during the holidays if you've not had the chance to do them in term time.

I hope that you all have a great last day of term!

Active Start

As it’s Wellbeing Wednesday, today look up the channel Cosmic Yoga Kids: and choose one of these sessions to join in with. I hope you really enjoy your peaceful start to the day!

At 09.30am Steve Backshall will be answering the questions that children will have sent into him! I wonder if one of the ones he answers today will be yours?

Ask an adult to help you to safely visit Steve Backshall’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Or safely visit:

Send me an email to let me know if Steve does answer your question!

After all that, it's time to get focussed!

Remember to try to spend a bit of time every day on these following activities:

  • Read for at least 30 minutes - As the weather is getting a bit nicer, perhaps you can spend a bit of time enjoying reading a book in the garden on a blanket? Perhaps you can write a book review once you have finished the book you are currently reading and send it to me by email?
  • Practice times tables for 20 minutes. Year 3’s, you should know: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 by the end of this school year.
  • Practice spellings for 15 minutes

Choose 5 words a day to practice using look, cover, say, write, check.

Highlight the words when you definitely know them

I hope that you have been enjoying the opportunity to perhaps discover your local area a little bit more now that you will have perhaps been exercising more in the places near your home.

So, today I would like you to write a setting description to describe your local area.

What is in your local area? What do you like/dislike about it and why?

If you are able to, use this to help you:

Aim to write at least half a page and remember to use paragraphs to organise your writing.

Perhaps you could then spend some time typing up your description and I will add it to our class page if you are happy for it to appear here.

To finish off our work that we have been doing this half term on Fractions, I would like you to do some work today focussing on tenths. We did some work on tenths in class, but if you need a little reminder, then spend a bit of time using the Powerpint to help you. Then, I have attached a choice of 3 challenges: mild, medium and hot. You can take your pick of the level of challenge that you feel ready for today!

Write the date and title ('Tenths') into your book and underline. Don't worry if you do not have a printer to print off the activity. What you could do instead is draw your own diagrams into your book and then label the diagram correctly.

Other Activities for today:

Of course, as it is Wellbeing Wednesday, I have attached the Activity sheet for today, which I know lots of you will enjoy.

Then, I am really hoping that the weather will stay nice this afternoon!

Today it’s time to get out into your garden and outdoor space and take some time to be really quiet and listen to the beautiful sound of the birds around us.

Using this fabulous website, you can learn about different birds and the sounds that they make!

Can you see any on the website that you think visit your garden?

If you’re not sure which birds visit your garden, then today, I'd like you to take the time to sit peacefully for some time and really try to focus on observing quietly and noticing which little birds visit.

Can you sit so still and peacefully, whilst you watch them that you do not alarm them?

Once you know the names of some of the birds that visit your garden, find a picture in a book or a website of one bird.

Then I'd like you to take the time to try and do a bit of sketching and then adding some colour to your sketches of the birds that you notice in your garden.

It would be lovely to see your sketches to add to our gallery.

Wishing you all a fabulous and safe Easter Holiday!

Enjoy all your yummy chocolate treats!

I'm looking forward to having a little more time during the holiday to spend on my hobby that I told you about yesterday. I will make a start on a new patchwork quilt. I've had these lovely pieces of material for quite some time now. I absolutely adore the patterns and colours in the materials because they all remind me of beautiful Indian Sarees.

I'll post some pictures sometime soon so that you can see how I'm getting on with it!

I hope that you enjoy some time during this holiday to spend on your hobby or ambition that you wrote about yesterday too.

Take care all of you.

Very best wishes,

Mrs Crosswell wink
