Today we would like you to:

  • Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some of our favourite Go Noodle dances. Running around outside, making an obstacle course, dancing, or Joe Wicks workouts are also great fun!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great! We are adding new books to Bug Club each week. Don’t forget, you can also find books on the Oxford Reading tree website.

This week we would like ALL children in Maple class to take time and look at the phonics.

It is important that you can see the different way that the sounds are written and become familiar with which words fit which pattern.

Spellings (Same as Monday)

In the golden rules for speech it says use ‘said’ or other words.

Did you think of other words for ‘said?’

I would like you to think of as many words for ‘said’ as you can. Think about how people say what they are saying in stories. Shout? Whisper? Whimper?

Make a list of interesting alternatives for the word ‘said’.

Play guess my number with someone in your family. Your partner could ask questions like:

Is it a two digit number? Is it even? Is it in the 10s times tables? Is it bigger than 50?

Today, work out how much change to give by counting on from the smallest number to the biggest number. You could set up a little shop and write some prices on drawings or real items.

Mild – Make everything in your shop less than 10p. How much change from 10p?

Medium – Make everything in your shop less than 20p. How much change from 20p?

Spicy – Items in your shop could be any amount up to £1. Remember this is 100p. Start with items that are multiples of 10, such as 80p. How change from £1?

You can count on in your head, or you can use a number line. Start at the smallest number and count on until you reach 10p, 20p or £1, depending on your chosen challenge. For number line advice, see the subtraction help on the parents help page.

Learning Theme

Today I would like you to go outside and find something in nature that you are interested in (leaf, flower, bud, insect etc)

Then draw it in the centre of your page. Your leaf, flower, bud or insect will be the starting point of your William Morris inspired artwork. Can you see how in this artwork below the left is a mirror image of the right. Go back outside and find something else that you would like to add to /draw on your page. Remember now you have to do the same on the other side too.

Don’t rush this. You can do more tomorrow.

The school will be closed to all pupils except children of key workers or vulnerable children who may attend for a mixture of educational and care based provision on weekdays between 8.50a.m. and 3.00p.m.. Please contact the school via email on or use the contact form on this website to book your place..............Please see the class pages on this website for home based learning activities each day...........................Would you like to work at Millfield? ...Check out our vacancies in the 'About Us' section...........
