Wednesday

Today we would like you to:

  • Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some of our favourite Go Noodle dances. Running around outside, making an obstacle course, dancing, or Joe Wicks workouts are also great fun!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great! We are adding new books to Bug Club each week. Don’t forget, you can also find books on the Oxford Reading tree website.
  • Practise your spellings.  Remember to LOOK, COVER, WRITE, CHECK to practise your spellings.
  • English and Spellings

This week we would like ALL children in Maple class to take time and look at the phonics.

It is important that you can see the different way that the sounds are written and become familiar with which words fit which pattern.

Spellings (Same as Monday)

English

We are going to continue with Conjunctions today as it’s such a great skill to embed!

Subordinating conjunction words include 'when', 'if', 'that’ and 'because'.

Co-ordinating conjunction words include ’so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.

Following the same pattern as yesterday I will begin the sentences (ready for you below), then you select a subordinating conjunction or a co-ordinating conjunction then complete your sentence!

Jack stopped suddenly,___.....

He knew he had to be quick,___......

Jack knew his mother would be cross,___....

The beanstalk had leaves as big as tables,___......

The giant could chase after Jack,____....

Now you make up two of your own sentences.

Wednesday maths

Warm up – Counting in 5s in an active way. Watch the video below to give you some active ideas. Or get active in your own way. If 5s are too easy, try 3s or 4s!

Today, lets explore and investigate arrays!

Mild: How many arrays can you make for number 12? Can you write some times tables to go with it?

Medium: How many arrays can you make for number 24? Can you write some times tables to go with it?

Spicy: Make an array and write 4 number sentences, like the example below. Can you make some different arrays of your own? Use the picture below to show you how you can use one array to tell you 4 number sentences…

Learning Theme

Today, let’s do some science! We know what plants are, and what they need to grow. Lots of you are growing your own plants which is fantastic! Your challenge today is to draw and label parts of a plant. Watch the BBC clip if you can to help.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/science-ks1-ks2-ivys-plant-workshop-parts-of-a-plant/zvdkpg8

Can you label the following parts?

What other parts can you label on your plant? You might find this PowerPoint helpful.
