Welcome to Wellbeing Wednesday, Sycamore Class blush

Active Start

As its Wellbeing Wednesday, ask an adult to help you to safely visit Cosmic Kids Yoga on You Tube. There are so many fabulous and fun sessions on there to choose from. Hoping that you enjoy a lovely, calm start to the day.

Remember to try to spend a bit of time every day on these following activities:

  • Read for at least 30 minutes - As the weather is getting a bit nicer, perhaps you can spend a bit of time enjoying reading a book in the garden on a blanket? Perhaps you can write a book review once you have finished the book you are currently reading and send it to me by email?
  • Practice times tables for 20 minutes. Year 3’s, you should know: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 by the end of this school year.
  • Practice spellings for 15 minutes Choose 5 words a day to practice using look, cover, say, write, check. Highlight the words when you definitely know them.

English:

For today’s English task, I would like you to take the time to choose a short story from a great new book which has been published by a group of great authors.

This extraordinary collection of short stories, poems, essays and pictures has contributions from more than 110 children’s writers and illustrators, including Lauren Child, Anthony Horowitz, Greg James and Chris Smith, Michael Morpurgo, Liz Pichon, Axel Scheffler, Francesca Simon and Jacqueline Wilson. It is an amazing and a really beautiful book.

I would like to set aside English time on each Wellbeing Wednesday, for you to take the time to enjoy something new from this book each week. So, today take a look at the contents, see if you spot an author that you normally like reading and enjoy the time to enjoy a lovely short story or perhaps a poem.

Then, please write the date and the title of what you have read in your English book and write a short review about what you have enjoyed.

It will be lovely to share and read your reviews.

Enjoy a lovely, calm morning, reading and reviewing wink

Maths:

Last of the ‘Minute Madness’!

So, today, to round up our work this week where we have focused on really understanding and deepening our understanding of minutes, you are going to look at how to read minutes on a clock face to be able to tell the time. You will use your knowledge from yesterday to help you today.

If you are able to print off the attached page, then that it great, work on that. If you don’t have access to a printer, then don’t worry, you can use something round to draw around to be able to draw the clock faces into your maths book and then show your answers.

Then, using the clock that you made before the Easter holidays, ask your family members to take turns to tell you a time, which you then show on your clock. I hope that you are feeling far more confident about showing the correct position of the minute hand now J

Wellbeing Wednesday

Today is the start of a new unit for our Wellbeing Wednesday work! It’s very exciting J

You will notice that there are two files today. One is an introduction and task setter. If you are printing the documents, please do not print page one of the Task setter document, as that it just for information.

Today you will enjoy making something that you can then keep on using whenever you would like to use it. Then there is a journal task to have a go at too (these are what we did in class for our folders).

Have a lovely, wonderful day!

I look forward to seeing a picture of you with your spinners

Then to finish, some Music!

Still image for this video
Music has a great way of making us all feel good! In class, we were enjoying listening to some great pieces of music from the BBC 10 pieces.
Here is another from the 10 pieces for you to find out more about. You might even want to spend a bit of time being creative and imagining what the creature could look like and then draw and colour it in?
Then watch the orchestral performance of the piece which I have put below too. I know that lots of you loved watching the orchestral performances when we were watching them in class.
Enjoy!
