Today we would like you to:

  • Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some Oti dance routines!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great!
  • Practise your spellings. You will find spellings at the bottom of this page.
  • Maths

Warm up – active counting! You can count in 10s from different numbers, forwards or backwards. Eg: 13, 23, 33, 43, 53 and so on. Try star jumps, bunny jumps or kangaroo bounces!

Today, let’s try finding a difference by counting on. (See the example on the parents help page to know how to do it on a number line). If you’re working with small numbers, you can do it in your head. Start with the smaller number, then count up to the biggest number. Use your fingers to count the steps, or draw a 0 – 20 line.

Mild:         14 – 9 =               12 – 8 =                 18 – 15 =              17 – 14 =

Medium:    45 – 39                 63 – 58                 86 – 77                43 – 35

Spicy:       65 – 47               84 – 66                 75 – 38                   46 - 29

Below is a link to a game in which you need to count on to subtract. There are also games on active learn.

English

Well done everyone for the word banks created yesterday.

If you were unable to make those yesterday please do not worry. Just join in today. We are reading Jack and the beanstalk!

Picture 1

We have found another version of this tale that you might find quite fun. So enjoy listening to this version and think about what is similar and what is different about the story.

On the main page with all the stills it has a link to ‘Meet the characters’

Recap on the characters and then have fun making the characters at home.

(My children at home seem to be making all sorts out of cereal boxes and containers at the moment. It could be fun to make little people using the recycling.)

Todays extra challenge is to make some outdoor art! Look at this artist’s work:

Picture 3

The artist’s name is Andy Goldsworthy. See if you can find out more about him.

Can you make your own art using sticks, stones, leaves or weeds you have dug up?

I made one with my daughter Audrey last week – can you tell what it is?
