Good morning Chestnut Class!

It’s Wednesday 1st April! April Fool’s Day. I wonder if you played a joke on anyone or if you were caught out!

It’s also the last day of term! I wish you all a very Happy Easter and some enjoyable chilling time with the family. Lessons will start again on Monday 20th April.

Thank you so much for sending in some photos of your home learning – it’s great to see your completed tasks as well as new activities you are doing while you are at home.

Here is your learning for Wednesday.

Active time

Choose a physical activity that you will enjoy. This might be:

  • Daily workouts with Joe Wicks (on YouTube)
  • A walk around the neighbourhood, or even a walk-run if you are feeling energetic! I have noticed lots of the trees and hedgerows beginning to green up as we move into Spring.

What is your favourite book?

You can recommend your favourite book to your friends. You can send a photo and I will share it with the class. I hope we can inspire each other to read new things during our time at home.

Remember to read as much as you can while you are at home. You can choose all sorts of books. There are also plenty to choose from on Bug Club. If you need different books on there, I can change them for you if your parents email me.

English / RE

Christians will soon be celebrating Easter.   You can read a version of the Easter story by following the links below.

Continue to write and illustrate your Easter Story – either a comic strip or a story board or perhaps a little Easter booklet.

Telling the time

This week, I would like you to learn and practise how to tell the time using an analogue clock, as well as a digital clock.

Today, continue practising o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. When you are very confident, you can start doing 5 minute intervals “to” the hour. I have put a PowerPoint to help with this in the resources.   I hope you will be able to keep practising while you are at home so that you become very confident with reading clocks.

I have also put a virtual clock at the bottom of our main page which you can use to practise with.

Easter Maths

I am also posting a Twinkl Easter maths activity at the bottom of this page. You can complete this in your green maths book, or print the sheet if you are able to.

Times tables

Practise your tables every day!

3s, 4s and 8s for Year 3.

Year 4 - when you know these, concentrate on 6s and 9s next.

Write out the table you are learning from memory. Then ask an adult to muddle them up. Ask them to test you.

You can also play Hit the Button online, which is an easy and fun way to practise tables.

New Skills

Perhaps you have been learning to do something new at home. Some of Chestnut class have been baking, making natural art, and painting. What are you learning to do? I tried my first crocheting last night! I’ll post a picture in our new skills gallery when I’ve had a little more practice!

The school will be closed to all pupils except children of key workers or vulnerable children who may attend for a mixture of educational and care based provision on weekdays between 8.50a.m. and 3.00p.m..
