Wednesday

Good Morning Sycamore Class!

Welcome to the last of our Wellbeing Wednesdays together. This time next week, it will be the first day of your summer holidays! So, for today I have included a few different ideas so that if you would like to have a go and use any of these ideas over the Summer Holidays, you can do!

Active Start:

How did you all get on with the Tabata challenge yesterday? I hope that your legs aren't aching too much from the challenge. Today, see if an adult at home can help you to safely visit:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WgkiB-GQMI

On this channel you will be able to join in with this great workout, which includes lots of fun dance moves, then gradually guides you through some yoga and ends with a few, calming minutes of meditation. I hope that you enjoy this workout.

English

Today, I would like you to think back to this time last year when we enjoyed our Transition morning together in our classroom. We enjoyed lots of fun activities that morning, including wearing the Harry Potter Sorting Hat and thinking about the qualities that the hat would pick out to describe each of us.

This year has certainly been a very unusual one and you have all worked so incredibly hard during your time either at home or with the Key Worker groups ar school. Today I would like you to draw a self-portrait and draw the sorting hat on your head. Then could you write a paragraph imagining the sorting hat is describing you now. I wonder what qualities the hat would pick out to describe all your fantastic achievements and growth over this year. Here is a little clip that we watched of Harry Potter getting sorted, to remind you of some of the qualities the Hat picked out in him.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Today will be your final Wellbeing Wednesday. I am so impressed with how well you have all worked on your Wellbeing Wednesday work, both in school earlier in the year and then over the last few weeks at home too. So many of you have worked hard with the activities and I am so pleased to hear that it has all helped lots of you laugh Remember that you can use the skills that you have learnt at any time you might want to in future.

Today, I wanted to introduce you to some online workshops from the Roald Dahl Charity. There are several fabulous workshops that you are able to take part in, which will help you to develop your skills in:

  • Bravery

  • Empathy

  • Resillience

  • Kindness

These are all qualities that you have all shown at various points this year, so I know that you will be great at these workshops and that you will learn lots more from them.

Visit: https://www.roalddahl.com/blog/2020/june/phizz-whizzing-workshops

and you will find videos and lots of information about the workshops to introduce you to them. Your parents might also want to sign up to a newletter, which would meant they will be emailed information and other activities that you might want to join in with.

Then visit:

 https://www.roalddahl.com/charity/get-involved/things-to-do-with-your-kids/phizz-whizzing-workshops/bravery

and here you can join in with the first workshop all about Bravery. Here is the activity sheet for you to do after watching the video and there's also a certificate that your parents/carers might want to award you!

I hope that you will continue with the other 3 workshops and activities too, perhaps over the summer holidays.

Have a great day and I look forward to seeing your work if you are able to email it to me.

See you for our last few days together, next week.
