a)  Play a multiplication or division game to 'warm-up'.  There are lots here:

b)  Division work.

Remember to use a number line to show how many times the number you are dividing by "fits into" the larger number.

e.g. 135 ÷ 3 =

I would show a large jump on the number line to show that 3 'goes into' 120, and it does so 40 times.  I would calculate that there is 15 left, and that 3 'goes into' this 5 times.  So the answer is 45.

With the numbers you are using today, you can always break it down into two jumps: a multiple of 10 (like 40 in the example above) and a units jump (5 in the example above).

Choose your level:

Norwich City Level:

1.  56 ÷ 4 =

2.  80 ÷ 5 =

3.  90 ÷ 5 =

4.  51 ÷ 3 =

5.  78 ÷ 6 =

6.  92 ÷ 4 =

7.  138 ÷ 3 =

8.  170 ÷ 5 =

Liverpool level:

1.  215 ÷ 5 =

2.  268 ÷ 4 =

3.  216 ÷ 6 =

4.  476 ÷ 7 =

5.  402 ÷ 6 =

6.  567 ÷ 9 =

7.  776 ÷ 8 =

8.  711 ÷ 9 =

In your purple writing book:

c) Prepositions.

Prepositions are words that tell you where, when or why something happens.

e.g. Yesterday, I didn't have a bath because there was a spider above it.

Write these sentences using the correct preposition:

1.  Ollie lived in a house by/in the seaside.

2.  We walked slowly towards/among the classroom.

3.  The Sun shines while/during the day.

Now identify what the prepositions are in these sentences.  Write whether the preposition is telling you where, when or why:

4.  The waiter put flowers on the table.

5.  I hid behind the door to surprise him.

6.  I found the money after a good search.

7.  I can't go because I'm going to a party.

8.  I've been playing the violin since 2015.

Now make up your own sentences using each of these prepositions:

9.  before

10.  until

11.  near

12.  alongside

13.  during

14.  since (you can use 'since' both as a why and as a when).

c)  Geography/Environment.

Look at the National Geographic website and then answer these questions.

1.  What is climate change?

2.  What causes climate change?
3.  How will it affect the planet?

4.  How will it affect wildlife?

5.  How will people be affected?

6.  What can I do about it?

You've probably heard of Greta Thunberg.  Have a look at what she has been saying recently about climate change on the link below.
