Tuesday 2nd June

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely Monday. Did any of you take part in ‘Magical Monday’? My magical wish would be for the environment to be clean and not to be polluted.

Today’s theme for Tuesday is: ‘Timeless Tuesday.

Today we would like you to think about a time capsule. What special things would you put in your time capsule that says something about you as a person? Think about what you enjoy (interests/hobbies), who is special to you, aspects of your life such as schooling, foods to eat etc. Remember a time capsule has to stand the test of time – so your objects need to be non-living things.

Have a good day!

Mrs Ashby and Miss Barrett

Tuesday's Learning tasks:

> Start your day with an Active Start. There are lots of options for you:

- Weekly challenge from Pav

- Norfolk School Games ‘Week 3’

- Joe Wicks – daily PE on Youtube

- Go Noodle also available on Youtube

- Imoves

- Or create your own PE session – for example, an obstacle course in the garden or lead a keep fit session with your family to your favourite tunes

> Read your book for 20 minutes. Or you could read a book from Bug Club. Bug club books are great because they have comprehension questions for you to answer too.

> Complete a maths quiz on diagnostic questions.

> Maths: This week we are looking at practising the ‘4 operations‘’.  Today we will continue to focus on addition and subtraction and tackling some word problems. In our Resources and Web Links section, you will find 3 different levelled challenges – select one that suits you. Answers for these questions will be given on Wednesday so you can self-mark.

> Further Maths to have a go at! Visit the White Rose website ‘Summer Term Week 6 (w/c 1st June) and complete Lesson 2 ‘Equivalent FDP’.

> Complete the word of the day activities - see below.

> Visit Active learn website and select a maths and a SPAG activity to complete.

> Please continue with the writing challenge for the week: See document in Resources and Web Links section. Remember you should be planning and researching your ideas at this stage. Use a thesaurus to find some ambitious vocabulary and make a list of Y5/6 words to include. Which punctuation will you include? Remember when you write your first draft you will be able to tick these off as you use them.

> Learning theme:

> Remember to build in some quiet time, creative time and outdoor time! Why not try the nature activity or a lego challenge?

Have a good day!

Word of the day

  1. What is the definition of ‘plunder’?
  2. Write 3 complex sentences using the WOD.
  3. Create a graffiti design for the word ‘plunder’
  4. Write the letters from the WOD in a vertical list (see below) and see how many countries you can think of beginning with each letter. Perhaps challenge a family member to compete against you. If you find a country that is different to what they’ve found score a point.

You will need a dictionary for the definition activity, if you don’t have one use an online dictionary.  You might want to use an atlas for the final task!
