Phonics

Again this week we would like ALL children in Maple class to take time and look at the phonics.

It is important that you can see the different way that the sounds are written and become familiar with which words fit which pattern.

Mild challenge – focus on reading then writing ‘oy’ words first then ‘oi’ words.

oy

oi

toy

boy

enjoy

join

voice

coin

Medium and Hot – Parents to read the words out in the order below. Remember to talk about what they feel ‘looks’ right.

‘oy’ and ‘oi’ words

boil

hoist

enjoy

choice

join

joy

toil

noise

Spellings

Everyone focus on Phonics and word patterns this week please.

English

Today you are going to enjoy a reading comprehension. It is in a Pdf format. If you have the facilities to print the document you can but it is not necessary as you can read from the screen then write the answers in your lined exercise book you were given.

'Captain Tom Moore' reading comprehension (you can find this pdf in the extra resources section if you go back a page onto the days of the week with the yellow stars).

Remember to read carefully out loud if you wish (but for the next one try to read in your head).

Then for your answers we would like to see full sentences please just like we were practising for our Sats.

Maths

Warm up

Count in 2s, 5s, 10s or 3s. If you’re really confident at that, practise your times tables. Look at the times tables section to see ways you can practise!

Today, try to represent 2 digit numbers in different ways. Use the clips on the BBC to help you.

Now have a look at my number picture – I showed 34 in different ways. Can you show your chosen number in different ways? Write it just like mine, in the middle of the page with lots of examples around it. For an easier number stay below 30. For a spicy challenge, go over 50!

Extra challenge – can you find it on a 0 – 100 number line? Or on a blank 100 square?

Tasty Tuesday

What can you make today? Perhaps ask your parents what’s for dinner tonight and help them prepare the evening meal? Please share your fantastic bakes and recipes so we can have a go too.

For inspiration why don’t you enjoy episode 1 of Junior Bake off.
