Today we would like you to:

  • Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some of our favourite Go Noodle dances. Running around outside, making an obstacle course, dancing, or Joe Wicks workouts are also great fun!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great! We are adding new books to Bug Club each week. Don’t forget, you can also find books on the Oxford Reading tree website.
  • Practise your spellings.  Remember to LOOK, COVER, WRITE, CHECK to practise your spellings.

This week we would like ALL children in Maple class to take time and look at the phonics.

It is important that you can see the different way that the sounds are written and become familiar with which words fit which pattern.

Great descriptive sentences yesterday!!

Today we are going to revisit Conjunctions.

What can you remember about Conjunctions? What is their purpose?


Conjunctions are the glue that holds together parts of sentences. Subordinating conjunction words include 'when', 'if', 'that’ and 'because'. Co-ordinate conjunction words include ’so’, ‘and’, ‘or’ and ‘but’.


(At KS1 level, children are expected to use subordinating conjunctions to join clauses. For example: 'I will go out to play if it stops raining.)


Today I would like you to copy the sentences already written so far below, then select the appropriate Subordinating Conjunction  and then finish the sentence how you wish.

For example -

Jack woke up,___.....

Jack woke up when he heard the morning birds singing in the garden.


Now your turn

The giant’s scruffy, salivating dog barked loudly, ___ ….

Jack hid behind the giants wife’s cooker, ___....

He ran so fast, ___.....

He tiptoed towards the large, wooden door___....


Now you make up two of your own sentences.


Tuesday Maths

Warm up – Halving. Find out half of even numbers, starting with 2. How many can you work out in 5 minutes? Draw dots or use counters/pasta/beads/lego if you need to.


Today, lets use arrays to help us to multiply! Here is an example of an array:


An array makes a rectangle, because it has the same number in each row and column. Use an array to work out the following. It doesn’t matter which way round the array goes because it doesn’t matter which way round the multiplication goes! 3 x 2 = 2 x 3.

Tasty Tuesday

Today, you could try to make or bake a sweet treat! If you don’t have any ingredients to bake with, why not draw a picture of a yummy cake and label it, or make some cakes with play dough.

You will see some easy recipes in our resources section, or you could find some in books or online.
