English

Using the story planning sheet on our class page, I would like you draw pictures that show the beginning, middle and end of the story we have been looking at all week: ‘The Old Toy Room’. If you whizz through that, can you please add a sentence to each section of the story, to sum up what happens and what your drawing shows.

Remember everything we need to make our sentences super!

I’m sure you will able to turn your grown-ups these things without help now…

Capital letters!

Full stops!

Finger spaces!

And to make them even more super… add some adjectives and verbs!

Academic Time – Learning Theme

Learning theme – History of toys

Last week I asked you to ask your parents, grandparents and other older family members what toys they had when they were children. Now I want to know what their favourite toy was (mine, as you know, was my teddy bear). Keep a tally of the different types of toys and use that information for the maths activity. Your tally chart will look something like this.

Soft toys and dolls

lllll     5

Building blocks and construction

lll     3

Board games

l     1

Balls and sports equipment

llll     4

Puzzles and jigsaws

ll     2

If you don’t have many people to ask, you can use the data above as a starting point, and add onto it!

Creative Time

Creative

It is so hot outside – can you do something creative in your garden/in a grassy area? You could collect some natural objects like leaves and twigs and make your own nature friend! Like this:

Quiet Time

Enjoy some nice colouring, watching TV, or relaxing in the garden with music!

Academic Time - Maths

Warm up:

Today, use your 100 square to colour numbers in the 5s counting pattern. You can use a darker colour for this. Again, you will find that you colour over numbers you have already coloured.

Activity:

Today, you will start collecting data for your History graph. Read today’s Learning Theme. Then you can ask whoever you can about their favourite toy as a child. Collect the data as a tally chart and put it to use tomorrow!
