Thursday

Remember today it is also important to:

  • Get active!  (Joe Wicks work out, running, bouncing, obstacle courses, football, go on a walk or a bike ride – so many ways to keep moving)!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes.

This week we would like ALL children in Maple class to take time and look at the phonics.

It is important that you can see the different way that the sounds are written and become familiar with which words fit which pattern.

Maths

Warm-up

Practise your 2, 5, 10 or even 3 times tables. You can do this by rolling a dice and writing a multiplication. E.g. Roll a 5 – do 5 x 10. Roll a 3, do 3 x 10. If you need more practise at counting, do some active counting!

Today in maths we are going to focus on fact families!

There is a great video clip on the bbc website, just follow the link:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zjn3gwx

There is a sheet for you to print at the bottom of the page, or you could have a go at my challenges in your maths books. Here is a bar model which shows that 7 + 5 = 12. Look at the 4 number sentences I can make using these numbers:

                           7

                5

                                          12

7 + 5 = 12

5 + 7 = 12

12 – 7 = 5

12 – 5 = 7

Why do my subtractions start with 12?

Try to write 4 number sentences for these:

Learning Theme (DT)

Today, begin to work on your birdfeeder – you might want to paint it and start to measure and draw where to cut the windows and doors. Remember to look at the different video clips and tutorials on the resources page.

When making windows, it is important that your grown-up uses the knife or sharp scissors. But you could measure and draw the lines, using your skills from maths earlier in the week!
