It's Thursday and the last home school day this week,

Here are some of the things you could do today:

  • Get active for at least 60 minutes - in addition to your chosen workout (have you tried Joe Wicks or Oti Mabuse's online workouts yet?) We're going to try a Pav Funball Challenge each week too. This week it is the 'tennis ball catching challenge. Starting with a partner, stand about 5m apart. Throw a ball to each other and see how many times you can do it without dropping it. Now add another ball. and another, and another (up to four). Are you better than yesterday?

  • Read for at least 30 minutes. Remember, this could be a real book, e-books (Twinkl, Oxford Owl) or Bug Club books. Remember to have a go at clicking on the bug to answer some quiz questions about your reading! Update your reading log and tell someone about what you have read.

  • Practise the word of the day below.

  • Mental maths - Try adding three single digit numbers on Hit the button. What is your personal best?

  • Maths activity - See below

  • English activity - See below

  • VE day celebrations - Why not try the 'Virtual Bake off'?

There are three categories to choose from: Best VE themed cake, Best cake using a wartime inspired recipe and Best “alternative” VE themed cake. Don’t forget to tell us who was involved in the baking/making of your cake. Each category will have a winner and two runners up.

     - Best VE themed cake: decorate your cake with a VE Day or World War 2 theme. Give your cake a title and give a few words to explain what you did and why.

     - Best cake using a wartime inspired recipe: use a genuine wartime recipe, like those found in Twinkl’s “Wartime Recipes Booklet” or create your own recipe using wartime inspired ingredients. Tell us what recipe or ingredients you used.

     - Best “alternative” VE themed cake: if you can’t actually get into the kitchen, you can still enter the competition by making a model cake, using things that you have around the house. Again, give your cake a title, explain what you used and why.

Get your entries to me by 3pm Wednesday 13th May, when they will be put onto your class page. Mrs Harazdiuk will hopefully announce the winners on Friday 15th May.

Remember there is extra information, pictures, videos and web links to help you in the resources section.
