Today we would like you to:

Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some of our favourite Go Noodle dances. Running around outside, dancing, or Joe Wicks workouts are also great fun!

Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great! We are adding new books to Bug Club each week.

Fractions of shapes

Warm up – Counting in 2s in an active way. Watch the video below to give you some active ideas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3fnxrqZE5U

Today we will revise fractions of shapes. Year 2s are aiming to say halves, quarters and thirds of shapes. Doing this practically with cake/pizza/sandwiches is fun too!

Start by watching these clips on bbc bitesize.

If you are able to print, you could print off the worksheet at the bottom of the page. If not, don’t worry, you could have a look at the sheet together. Alternatively, you could draw some shapes and colour in halves, quarters and thirds.

There is an online game here to have a go at:

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/firepitFractions/index.html

Some fractions of shape advice:

First count the number of EQUAL parts. Write that at the bottom, this is called the denominator. I then tell the children to ‘put his hat on’ (draw the line on top). Then count how many of the parts are coloured in. That is called the numerator. Write this at the top. Like this ½.

Learning Theme

Enjoy drawing or painting some plants or flowers that you are interested in.

These could be wild flowers found on a walk or some that you have grown in your garden.
