Thursday

Today we would like you to:

  • Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some Oti dance routines!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great!
  • Practise your spellings. You will find spellings at the bottom of this page.
  • Maths

Warm up – active counting! You can count in 10s from different numbers, forwards or backwards. Eg: 13, 23, 33, 43, 53 and so on. Try star jumps, bunny jumps or kangaroo bounces!

Today, let’s find out about 2D shapes!

Remember 2D means 2 dimensional. They are flat shapes.

Look at the PowerPoint at the bottom of the page to remind you about 2D shape names.

Can you use a ruler to draw some 2D shapes OR use some straight sticks in your garden to make them?

Here is a game in which the ‘torch’ only lights up part of the shape. Can you work out what the shape is?

We hope you had fun making your puppets yesterday! Today you can use them to retell the story.

If you would like to recap then this was the first story we heard.

https://www.storynory.com/jack-and-the-beanstalk/

When you retell the story try to remember to....

  • Use the traditional story language.
  • Use fun different voices for the characters.
  • Remember the different parts of the story.
  • Have fun!

Science

Check on the beans or seeds you planted. Have you noticed anything?

Today, see if you can find out what a plant needs to grow.  This BBC clip might help you:

If you are feeling ambitious, you could even draw a labelled picture to explain what plants need in order to grow.
