Spellings

Lots of practise on these will help you with your writing now and in year 3. Come on Maples you can do it!

Spellings

You can look at 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 common exception words.

(In resources section)

English

Here is your photo.

Imagine what you can see, hear, smell and touch. The sentences must include adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions!!

Mild – 2 sentences

Medium - 3 sentences

Hot – 4 or more sentences (huge high five for aiming high!)

Maths

Warm up

See if you can remember how to find quarter of numbers! Remember, you can half and half again! How many quarters (or halves if it’s too tricky) can you find in 5 minutes?

Measuring in milliletres

Today we would like you to have some fun measuring liquids! Here is a link to the BBC page with some great clips and activities.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zmn6wnb

You don’t have to print anything if it’s not possible. We like the ‘Measurement Detective’ activity on the BBC page…

Here are 2 Maple challenges for you to enjoy.

Challenge 1:

Find 5 different drink bottles/cartons and put them in order of volume (which can hold the least to the most liquid). Check the labels to see if you’re right!

Challenge 2:

Pour coloured water or squash into a measuring jug and see if you can get the following amounts:

50ml

100ml

200ml

250ml

500ml

½ litre (I MIGHT HAVE TRICKED YOU HERE, TEE HEE)!

750ml

1 litre

It’s hard to measure 5ml in a measuring jug. Can you think of another way to measure 5ml?

This afternoon

Can you design a toy?

Design your own toy. You can use the “Toy fact file” sheet as a guide (in the resources section).

You can either draw your toy or make it with play dough or junk modelling.

Label your picture.

Remember to say what it is made from, what it does and what age of child it is designed for (for example it wouldn’t be a good idea to make a hard toy for a baby).
