The online world is posing an ever-increasing risk to children, and it is important that schools, parents and carers work together to take an active role in teaching children about online dangers. Learning how to act safely when using the internet is an incredibly important part of safeguarding our children.

 

We are therefore delighted to announce that at Millfield Primary School we have shown our commitment to protecting our pupils online by working with National Online Safety – providing resources for all parents and carers.

 

The resources include a number of guides and videos and also a Parents & Carers course that can be taken at your own convenience, which covers a variety of areas such as:

  • Online Relationships
  • Fake Profiles & Social Bots
  • Online Bullying
  • Online Grooming
  • Child Sexual Exploitation
  • Sexting
  • Live Streaming
  • Online Identity
  • Screen Addiction
  • Online Challenges

To create your account, please follow http://nationalonlinesafety.com/enrolmillfield-primary-school enter your details and select “I am a: Parent/Carer” as your account type.   

Once you have registered, you will be able to access the “Online Safety for Parents and Carers’ course and National Online Safety's Resources- which includes a wide range of online platform guides on the latest social media channels and games. National Online Safety release a brand-new guide weekly, and aim to cover all major social media platforms, apps and issues that children encounter online. These aim to help empower parents with the knowledge to protect their children from the dangers of the internet.

Parent Guides

Home Learning Packs

Thinkuknow still has available their home learning packs for families to use at home through their parents and carers website. Please click on the link provided below to access these or open . These packs include fun activities, conversation starters and practical tips on topics such as: live streaming and sharing images - the activities are about 15 minutes long. Or alternatively click on the Family Activity sheets icon - these give really helpful information regarding topics such as online gaming, social media, and viewing videos online. 

The school is open today for vulnerable pupils and children of key workers (who have attended previously) only. .................................. All other pupils should continue with remote learning as usual...................Only 1 more day of home learning to go!..............All children return to school on Monday 8th March.......Please see the Parent Information Booklet under the Parent section of this website in Letters..........
