Oak Class 2020-21

Welcome to the SUMMER TERM!

We have many interesting  and exciting topics and activities planned for Oak Class this term.

Some of the main themes we will cover are as follows:

As Geographers we will be focusing on physical geography. We will study river systems, erosion and conservation; rivers and oceans around the world and in the local area. We will study this because it will help us to better understand how our landscape is formed and how human actions have an impact on our ecosystems so we can be instrumental in shaping the future of our planet.

As Scientists we will learning about electricity. We will learn about different types of circuit and electrical symbols; we will also look at the differences between current and voltage because this will help us to have a better understanding of how power is generated and why it is an essential part in everyday life.  We will also focus on electricity in and around our homes including electrical safety as this will enable us be more aware of how to keep safe in our daily lives.

This links in with our work as designers where we will build cars using a range of materials and power them using our electrical knowledge from science because this will help us to understand how engineers use mechanisms and power to make things move.

As Musicians we will continue to learn the ukulele so we can build on our skills and create our own compositions.

We have other interesting things going on too in other subjects which are not listed above,  and many fun things planned for  after half term! Mrs Ashby and I are really looking forward to this term with Oak Class and the other Year 6 children.

If you have any concerns at all then  please remember to email us on the class email address:
