Good Morning Sycamore!

I hope that you all had a lovely, and restful weekend with your families laugh

What a shame that the lovely weather that we enjoyed last week didn't continue into the weekend though.

I've really enjoyed seeing your poems and beautiful rainbows that you created last week.

Hopefully, you managed to still go out for walks in the neighbourhood and perhaps you spotted some rainbows created by your classmates?

Active Start

Decide whether you are ready for an energetic start to the week with Joe Wicks (TheBodyCoachTV on YouTube) or perhaps you'd prefer a more peaceful start to help you to ease into the week with some yoga on Cosmic Kids Yoga:

After a nice, active start, time to get focussed!

Remember to try to spend a bit of time every day on these following activities:

  • Read for at least 30 minutes - As the weather is getting a bit nicer, perhaps you can spend a bit of time enjoying reading a book in the garden on a blanket? Perhaps you can write a book review once you have finished the book you are currently reading and send it to me by email?
  • Practice times tables for 20 minutes. Year 3’s, you should know: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 by the end of this school year.
  • Practice spellings for 15 minutes

Choose 5 words a day to practice using look, cover, say, write, check.

Highlight the words when you definitely know them.

This weekend, I have enjoyed taking the time to re-start a hobby that I haven't had chance to spend time on for a very long time. A few years ago I did a sewing course and then made some beautiful patchwork quilts. I always wanted to make one each for my daughter's, but have never really had the chance to. So, now I have decided that I will make sure that I do make them their quilts.

Write today's date neatly into your book and underline it.

Then for your diary entry today, firstly spend some time thinking about what it is that you have an ambition to do or learn, but that you haven't been able to do it. Perhaps it's to spend more time on a  hobby, (like I have), taking the time to learn a new skill, perhaps to improve on something that you already enjoy.

Then I would like you to write a paragraph in your diary entry about what hobby or skill it is that you will make the time to get better at and why.

For the second paragraph, have a think about how you will get better at this. Will you need to persevere? Will you need to learn from/alongside a family member etc? Will you need to research to help you? How and when will you practice?

Add illustrations and diagrams.

I'm really looking forward to hearing and seeing what new hobbies you all decide to take up!

Time (O’Clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to)

I know that telling the time on an analogue clock is something that many of you find tricky.

Today I would like you to spend some time being creative by having a go at making your own clock from card or paper. See if you can make the hands moveable so that you can use it to help you to practice telling the time. Then really focus on telling the time to o’clock and half past.

If you are able to, an adult can help to safely visit this link to video on telling the time to o’clock and half past:

Once you are confident with o’clock and half past, have a go at quarter past and  quarter to.

It'd be great if you can email a photo of your wonderful and creative clocks to me to share on our gallery page!

Who tuned in to listen to Steve Backshall answer questions on Wednesday? My daughter was so thrilled to hear Steve answer her question that she had sent in!

Perhaps this week it will be a question from one of you that he answers?

So, spend some time thinking carefully about what you would ask Steve and with the help of an adult, send it to Steve (details on last Monday's page)!

It would be great to create a class list of questions sent in by Sycamore, so if you can send me your question too once you've planned it, that would be great! Then we can all listen out on Wednesday to see if any get answered wink

I have found out that the Scouts have created a fabulous list of creative indoors activities to enjoy! There are some really lovely activities there that I think you will all enjoy having a go at.

So, today I would like you to pick one of your choice to enjoy.

If you pick one of these and make something creative, please do send a photo of it to me at: to share on here!

It would be lovely to see and hear what you get up to!

I hope that you have a lovely day!

I'm really hoping that the sun will come out at some point today! Fingers crossed.
