In your green maths book:
a) Some multiplication work today. First of all, draw out a grid in your book to practice your times table facts (like we always do on a Friday!):
x 5 6 3 7 9_
b) Then, choose a level to practice partitioning and multiplying. If you can't remember how to set this out, look at the calculation guide in the Parents Information folder.
1. 34 x 4 = 2. 6 x 44 = 3. 4 x 75 =
4. 53 x 9 = 5. 7 x 43 = 6. 8 x 64 =
1. 325 x 6 = 2. 418 x 7 = 3. 9 x 527 =
4. 8 x 639 = 5. 674 x 8 = 6. 8 x 976 =
In your purple writing book:
c) New spelling pattern: words with a non-pronounced 'ue'. Copy out the words below 3 times each, using look, cover, say, write, check.
Can you think of or find out another four words that use this spelling pattern?
Choose 5 of the words to put into sentences. Write each one as a speech sentence, correctly punctuated, and with an additional clause after the speaker's name.
e.g. "This will be worth a huge amount of money," said the antique dealer, examining the vase carefully through his eye-piece.
d) Following on from VE Day, find out a little bit about Winston Churchill (one of my heroes!). Read a bit about him (there is a link to a BBC page about him below, but you can find others - just Google 'Winston Churchill Biography KS2") then write a short paragraph about him in your book: at least 5 good facts.
See if you can find out about some of his famous speeches: "We will fight them on the beaches" and "Finest hour" are the most famous.
