Monday

Today we would like you to:

Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some of our favourite Go Noodle dances. Running around outside, dancing, or Joe Wicks workouts are also great fun!

Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great! We are adding new books to Bug Club each week.

If your child is spelling these words correctly then put a couple of these words in a sentence and dictate it. Then check the spelling

For example - She ran a bath for her child after a busy day.

English

Last week we had fun sharing the traditional take ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ If you want to hear it again :  https://www.storynory.com/jack-and-the-beanstalk/

Today we would like you to choose two characters from the story! So which 2 puppets will you choose?

Over the next two days you are going to think of words to describe them. Today decide on one character to do first. Begin by drawing that character then describe their appearance, what you see on the outside (so what they look like), then what kind of person (what type of character) they are, what is on the inside.

Maths

Warm up – Quick doubling. How many doubles can you write in 5 minutes? You can do this in a workbook, on concrete with chalk or with colourful felt tips on paper. Example: 3 + 3 = __

5 + 5 = __

Record your score after 5 minutes to try and beat it tomorrow!

Grouping

Year 2 are aiming to divide by 2, 5 and 10.

When we divide, we use ‘grouping’. We sometimes called it ‘peas on a plate’ – can you remember?

Use this video clip to remind you how to do grouping:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=qM23wFvlX00

You can draw the dots or use dried pasta/buttons/counters/lego cubes to group. (You could even use 2p, 5p or 10p coins if you have them instead of grouping).

Mild:               6 ÷ 2 =               12 ÷ 2 =              20 ÷ 5 =                 30 ÷ 10 =

Medium:          14 ÷ 2 =              18 ÷ 2 =              35 ÷ 5 =                 40 ÷ 10 =

Spicy:              12 ÷ 3 =              16 ÷ 4 =              21 ÷ 3 =                 20 ÷ 4 =

Use words like “How many groups of 2 make 6?” or “How many 2ps make 6p?” See the examples below.
