Monday

Hello Maple! We hope you had a good weekend and are ready for your first day of home learning.

Today we would like you to:

  • Get active! You could go for a family walk, play in the garden, do some dancing or exercises with video clips (I have added some 'Go Noodle' dances to our resources)! If you have access to the internet, at 9am, Joe Wicks will be doing a daily PE session. Please ask an adult to help you to safely visit:TheBodyCoachTV on YouTube. Hope you have a great PE session!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. This could be a real book, e-books (Twinkl, Oxford Owl) or Bug Club books. We have allocated some great books about animals as well as story books onto your Active Learn account.
  • Practise your spellings for 15 minutes. You will find spellings at the bottom of this page. There is also some information about which spellings to practise.
  • For our maths learning this week, focus on telling the time on an analogue clock. You will find a telling the time video clip to help you. We have also put some fun games on the resources page and on your Active Learn account.
  • For our English learning look for signs of Spring!

Enjoy some fresh air and get outside and write down 6 signs of Spring.

(These will be useful for tomorrow when you have a go at writing an acrostic Spring poem).

    For example.

Buds on branches on the trees, Bright yellow daffodils etc

Remember there is extra information, pictures, videos and web links to help you in the resources section.

I'm sure you will do your neatest and best work!

Weekly Spellings and Monday phonics.

Phonics

The phonics that will be listed every day is really for those children that were to repeat the year 1 phonics check and those children that need a little more time to reinforce their sounds to help with their reading and writing. So the phonics does not apply to all the year 2 children. However feel free to dip in and out of it if you think your child could do with reinforcing the odd sound.

Spellings

For most of the Maple class please work through the list of spellings below. These words have been taken from the year 1 and year 2 list of ‘Common Exception’ words. You may have seen these words before for homework but we still need to practise them in order to write words correctly in our sentences and not just in isolation.

after

again

any

bath

beautiful

behind

both

break

busy

child

If your child is spelling these words correctly then put a couple of these words in a sentence and dictate it. Then check the spelling

For example

The girl looked behind at the beautiful forest.

The school will be closed to all pupils except children of key workers who may attend for holiday care on weekdays between Thursday 2nd April and Friday 17th April (excluding Bank Holidays). Please contact the school via email on office@millfield.norfolk.sch.uk or use the contact form on this website.
