Maple Class

Welcome to Maple Tree Class page

We are very excited to be enjoying our new Learning theme ‘China’. Our two ‘Wow afternoons’ were a complete success with the children enjoying food, music, stories and traditional culture from this fascinating Country.

This term we will be learning facts about the country China. We will be looking at traditional Chinese paintings and we reading traditional stories. We will learn dances and taste more delicious Chinese cuisine.

We will be performing the story of the zodiac in our school hall on Wednesday 29th at 9.10. We hope you can come.

Thank you to the children who have brought in books and artifacts already they have really enhanced the learning in our classroom. If you have anything from home relating to the theme ‘China’, we would be happy to share these in the classroom also.

Thank you for all of the reading that is taking place at home during the week and weekends. Due to the success of the lady birds last term we have continued with the same idea going into the Spring term but have a Dalmatian dog display that the children collect spots for.

Remember 3 or more reads a week and you can get a black spot for your Dalmation!

Lots of readers have moved up a colour recently in their colour band books with some children moving up 2 or even 3 colours! This is fabulous. Keep up the hard work.

Homework and Spellings

We saw some lovely homework last term. Well done Maple class.

Weekly homework and spellings is an important part of the curriculum. Please continue to enjoy this learning each week. Blue homework books must be in school every Monday and spelling books in school every Friday.

Most children are bringing in water in into the classroom now. Thank you so much.

Keeping fit

This term we will be improving our fitness each week by attempting the Millfield quarter mile. This will involve a run around the school field. Go, go, Maple!!
