The Summer Reading Challenge
Don't forget you can still take part in the summer reading challenge this year with Norfolk libraries.
The Summer Reading Challenge - The Silly SquadRead or have read to you six books over the summer (or listen to audiobooks). However, this year you can unlock virtual rewards and record your progress online.
The library in North Walsham is open Monday to Saturday. So, why not go along with an adult to choose some books, or if you are pushed for time, get yourself a grab and go bag which has a selection of books already chosen for you! Simple and easy!
Getting out and about in Norfolk
Did you know that the bones of a mammoth were discovered near to Cromer? Were you aware that the oldest known hominid (our ancestors) footprints outside of Africa were found in Happisburgh? Well, it is all true!
There is a really cool walk and discovery trail that you can do along the coast of North Norfolk that links in closely with our autumn term learning theme on the Stone Age. It is called ‘the Deep History Coast’.
The Deep History Coast - Discovery trailThe Deep History Coast trail spans all the way from Weybourne to Happisburgh. You can follow the discovery trail, use the mobile app to complete a virtual journey or even go fossil hunting along the beaches of Norfolk!
Exploration closer to home
Sadler’s Wood in North Walsham is the perfect place to get out and about to explore nature. The wood has a children’s play area and a brand new tree trail where trees are marked with their names. Can you find our class tree? Take a picture and send it to me if you’d like! Also, see how many other trees you can spot! If you are very quiet you may even see a Tawny owl or a deer.
Sadler's Wood leaflet This leaflet gives information about what you can do while at Sadler's Wood and has directions to help you get there.
50 things to do before you're 11¾
The National Trust has an activity list of things that you may want to do before you turn 11¾. This fun list has a range of ideas, some simple and others more complicated. Why not check it out before you try some of the other activities I have suggested? You can roll down a hill at Sadler’s Wood or skim stones on the beach while doing the Deep History Coast discovery trail. Take a look below!
