Answers to yesterday's maths:

1.  9cm

2.  13cm

3.  12cm

4.  24cm

5.  6cm

Challenge:

6.  24cm x 2cm; 16cm x 3cm; 12cm x 4cm; 8cm x 6cm.

7.  5cm, 7cm and 12cm.

In your green maths book:

Multiplying two 2-digit numbers together:

e.g. 48 x 12 =

To do this, you will need to partition BOTH numbers, so it will look like this:

x 40 8
10 400 80
2 80 16

The four 'cells' then need to be added together: 400 + 80 + 80 + 16 = 576.

Here's another example:

53 x 15 =

x 50 3
10 500 30
5 250 15

500 + 30 + 250 + 15 = 795

a) Choose which level to do:

Brown belt level:

1.  38 x 12 =

2.  54 x 12 =

3.  73 x 15 =

4.  57 x 15 =

Black belt level:

1.  86 x 12 =

2.  94 x 15 =

3.  74 x 22 =

4.  87 x 25 =

5.  48 x 36 =

6.  29 x 54 =

Check your answers on a calculator when you have finished!
