Today we would like you to:

Get active! There are so many fun ways to do this. Remember to look in our resources section – you will see some fun clips, including some of our favourite Go Noodle dances. Running around outside, dancing, or Joe Wicks workouts are also great fun!

Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of different reading books online as well as actual books, which are also great! We are adding new books to Bug Club each week.

Today you are going to have some down time after all that writing this week.

Draw a picture of a setting in the story. It could be Jacks house on the farm, could be Jacks bedroom or the castle.

Choose which setting you wish to describe then write some words around it to describe the different features.

For example ; old carts, broken tiles, grand staircase, arched ceiling,

Maths

Warm up – Do your own actions to count in 2s, 5s, 10s, or even 3s and 4s!

Finding ¼ or thirds of numbers

In class, we draw pizza shapes or bar models to find fractions of numbers. The video clip below models this really well BUT….ONLY WATCH THE FIRST TWO MINUTES! After that it gets very tricky (year 3 level). I have also added some pictures to demonstrate how we find fractions of numbers. See if you can remember when we did it!

(first 2 minutes)

It's much more tricky to find 3/4, but you can do it by colouring in 3 sections out of four then counting up. This is very SPICY level!

Also see the PowerPoint at the bottom of the page if you need extra support. There is an Active Learn fractions game too - Canopy Chaos!

Mild – (split into 2 equal piles)

½ of 6        ½ of 12         ½ of 16           ½ of 14

Medium

 ¼ of 8           ¼ of 12              ¼ of 20               ¼ of 16

Spicy:  (Look carefully)      1/3 of 12          1/3 of 18           ¼ of 24             ¼ of 32

EXTRA spicy!!     ¾ of 12                   ¾ of 16

Learning theme

Bean/ plant diary!

I have been busy planting ‘peas’ and the flowers ‘Sweet peas’ in seed trays in my garden. They have been in the soil for about a week and tiny shoots are popping up. It’s really exciting.

We managed to get hold of a bean seed and we put it in a cup by the window. Each day it changed in some way. The bean looks a little like this in picture above that I found.

Have a go at writing about some of the changes you are seeing today. Can’t wait to see the photos too!
