Friday

Today we would like you to:

  • Get active!
  • Read for at least 20 minutes. Remember there are lots of books on bug club to read and enjoy. There is a great book about growing strawberries. If you click on the bug, there are quiz questions too!
  • Practise your spellings.
  • Maths

Warm up – times tables. How many times tables can you say or write in 5 minutes! You could write with chalk outside, or a pencil on paper. If tables (3 x 10) are still tricky, continue to count in an active, fun way. You’ll soon get it!

Today, lets find out about data! Can you remember how to make a tally chart? Look at this PowerPoint if you can. If not, just remember to count in 5s!

Now to collect some data! You can collect data about anything, but here is an example:

Cars

If you choose to do a car tally, you’ll need to go for a walk, and mark down the colour cars you see. Your grown up could help you to make the chart to get you started.

Other ideas for data:

Bugs in your garden, types of food in cupboard, types of books on your shelves (animal, fairy tale, facts, superheroes) colour of cars on a walk, or you could even phone and ask for your friend’s and family’s different favourite colours.

English

Today you are going to make a story map of ‘Jack and the beanstalk’.

A story map is a map that takes you on a story journey from the beginning, to the middle then to the end.

Here are some examples;

Enjoy making your story map.

Once you have made it. Talk through the story using your map as your guide.

Extra challenge

It’s ‘Fun Friday’ so you can choose! Which activity did you enjoy most this week? Is there anything you didn’t get a chance to do? Use this time to enjoy looking at the plants in your garden or checking on your bean. Maybe you could make some more outdoor art or another fruit salad. You could make a poster about how plants grow. Or, you could turn you data from today into a lego bar graph, like this:
