Good morning Chestnut Class!

How are you today? Have you got that Friday feeling?

You've reached the end of your first week of home learning - well done! We'd love to see some of the activities you have completed. If you like, you can ask an adult to email some photos showing your work, and we can share them in our class gallery.

Make sure you have all your learning resources handy so that you can get on with activities easily.

Active time

Choose a physical activity that you will enjoy. This might be:

  • Daily workouts with Joe Wicks (on youtube)
  • Dance class with Oti Mabuse at 11.30  (you’ll have to ask an adult to access it on Facebook for you).
  • Set up your own carousel – you could include running, jumping, kangaroo hops, mummy kicks, star jumps. Do 30 seconds of each in rotation, then repeat two or three times.
  • How many laps of your garden can you run in 5 minutes? Can you continue without walking?

Remember to read as much as you can while you are at home. You can choose all sorts of books. There are also plenty to choose from on Bug Club. If you need different books on there, I can change them for you if your parents email me.

You might like to use the back of your English home book as a reading record, to note down the book you are reading, the pages you read each day, and to make a comment about the story or book.

At 11am, David Walliams is reading a new story from the World’s Worst Children that you can listen to. There is a link in the resources section so that you can find it easily.

It’s Friday – so today, I would like you to see how many of this week’s spellings you can still remember. Ask an adult to give you a spelling test. You can test all 20 words if you like.

Let me know how you get on!

Complete any more of the pages you have in your maths booklet.

Times tables

2.  Practise your tables every day!

3s, 4s and 8s for Year 3.

Year 4 - when you know these, concentrate on 6s and 9s next.

Write out the table you are learning from memory. Then ask an adult to muddle them up. Ask them to test you.

You can also play Hit the Button online, which is an easy and fun way to practise tables.

Complete your Egyptians poster. Make sure it is colourful and attractive. When it is finished, please email me a photo and I can put these on our class gallery for us to share.

New Skills

It would be great to learn some new skills while you are away from school.

Today, why not learn or practise tying a bow. Ask an adult to show you and practise lots until it is easy. You could have a “bow off” with someone else and see who can do it the fastest!

Remember we made a list of activities to do at home…. We included Lego, cooking, sewing, drawing and lots of other. I am including a big list in the resources section which has loads of ideas if you are stuck for something to day. I am sure there is something that you will enjoy! Let me know how you get on!
