Welcome to Chestnut Class!
Welcome back to Chestnut Class- it's Spring term!
Our teachers are: Mrs Mayes (Monday- Wednesday) and Mrs Monsey (Thursday and Friday).
We also work with Miss Womack and Mrs Bane.
Please come and find us on the playground to say hello.
This term we will be busy learning about the following themes:
As Historians we will be finding out all about the life of Lord Nelson and his importance in local history and why he remains a significant figure in national history. We will be learning more about the maritime history of our local area .
As Geographers we will be exploring coastal settlements and local industries and how they have evolved over time, and affected our coastal towns.
As Scientists we will be learning about animals including humans and finding out more about more about nutrition and teeth, moving on to studying skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement.
In English, we have started our work on winter-inspired acrostic poems, building on our descriptive language skills. Later in the term will be using our knowledge of Nelson to produce Non-Chronological reports.
PE will be on Monday or Tuesday, depending on the weather. We will focus on football, particularly Dribbling, Passing and small sided games. Outside kit needed please.
This week we were very excited to start our Ukulele lessons. We're having lots of fun learning new skills.
Homework will be given out on a Monday and needs to be handed in on Thursday. Please make sure you are reading regularly at home, and signing the red reading record book.
