Starting a new year...

 

Our term is a busy and exciting one, filled with new and memorable experiences for the children to learn from.  We are aiming to use their interests and thoughts to steer our learning pathways, so allow this to motivate and inspire them.

 

We start of with

What makes me marvellous?  Thinking and learning about how our bodies work including our senses, appreciate and understand how we may be the same and yet different, and how we can look after ourselves.  

Following this theme we explore

Why are animals different?  We learn about the names and characteristics of different animals and why they are this way.  The children will learn about animals from far away and closer to home.  We will explore how we can look after our animals and think about our environment.

In both themes we will use stories to supplement our learning including The Tiger who can to Tea, This is the Bear and What the Ladybird Heard.  (Maybe have a read together beforehand!)  

We encourage the children to follow their own interests and create their own learning ideas so we never know quite where our learning journey may end up!   

Children will have daily lessons for Literacy and Maths, developing those fundamental skills that run through all our learning.  We adopt a practical approach that allows them to use and apply their knowledge in a practical and meaningful way.

 

Our Reading Bears and Maths Monster and Mystery Bag provide individual opportunities to develop and share Communication & Language, Literacy and Maths' skills.

 

 With so much happening, it’s really important that you keep an eye on the key dates (Diary sheets, Parent Mail letters, or on Tapestry).

 

Tapestry for Foundation Stage will soon be up and running so do download the App. and start sending us pictures and comments of the things they do at home.  Help us create the clearest picture of your child's development and progress!
