WOW Day - Amazing Asia

Amazing Asia

Our new learning theme is ‘Amazing Asia’.

We will become explorers by travelling to Asia and learning about the country China. As Geographers we will be comparing our home town of North Walsham to the capital city of Beijing.

As historians we will be learning about Chinese history and culture and taking a closer look at the landmarks that can be found in this fascinating country.

As scientists we will explore different materials and use our findings to help us construct our boats. We will also be classifying animals you would find in Asia.

As artists we will study Chinese blossom paintings and create our own chalk and paint pictures to hang in our local community to celebrate our learning.

Alongside our main learning theme we will be continuing with our Spanish, PSHE and PE lessons.

Summer Term Learning

Love Where We Live

This term in Early Phase our learning theme is ‘Love Where We Live.’ As scientists we will be learning about different parts of plants and what they need to survive.

In RE, we have learnt about religion in our local community. We discussed all of the beautiful and different places of worship around us. We recognised lots of different places in North Walsham. We will also be exploring the meaning behind the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’.

In PE, we are enjoying using dance as a way of expressing ourselves and our emotions to music. We will also be going swimming at Victory Leisure Centre.

As historians, we will be learning about our local area of North Walsham and how the town has changed over time. We will also explore how times have changed since our parents and grandparents were younger.

As geographers, we will be looking at maps and thinking about how we travel to school.

As artists we will be studying the work of famous artist, William Morris, who took inspiration from the beautiful natural world around him. We will be sketching plants and then creating repeat patterns using print techniques.

Our other subjects this term will include; maths, English, PSHE, RSHE (learning for life), online safety, music and Spanish.

If you have any questions then please feel free to contact us.
