Why should my child join
Children’s University is a nationwide project that promotes and celebrates quality out-of-school hours learning through participation in activities at places such as after school clubs, sports clubs, art clubs and tourist attractions.
All of the activities are checked to ensure that they promote high quality learning, and are fun.
Each child that joins will receive a Passport to Learning in which to record the hours that they spend at Learning Destinations.
Here at Millfield, we want our pupils to enjoy the benefits of quality learning experiences beyond the classroom walls. Children’s University helps to celebrate and recognise this learning.
What happens once my child has started using their passport at different Learning Destinations?
By joining Children’s University, children learn to make full use of the breadth of learning opportunities outside of the school day, to become life-long learners, and to increase their skills, knowledge and self-confidence.
As children show that they want to learn by choosing to do these extra things, we celebrate their achievements with certificates and special Graduation Days at the University of East Anglia.
Here are 10 ideas to try out to begin using your passport!
Some of our pupils attended Graduation in July 2014, December 2014 and most recently in June 2015. Children, staff from school and parents are always full of pride and always thoroughly enjoy celebrating the children's individual successes at the ceremony.
We are really looking forward to more children attending graduation in Summer 2016! Hope to see you there too!
