Welcome to Silver Birch Class
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year and are ready for the spring term.
This term we are learning about World War Two. We started with the children creating their own gas masks and acting out an air raid experience. In English we are continuing this theme by reading the book Carrie’s War where we are thinking about what it would have been like to be evacuated in the war.
In P.E. we are doing hockey outside on Mondays so please ensure your children have warm P.E. kits with them. On Thursdays they will be doing dance inside. To also help with the children's fitness levels we are completing a 5 minute run on most mornings.
In science this term we are looking at the human body.
The children will be given spellings and homework on Thursdays and the spelling test will be on Thursdays, apart from Monkey Puzzle children who will continue to have their spellings on Thursdays. Please continue to read lots at home and practise timetables.
We have two events planned for this term. A trip to Duxford to enhance our learning about the Second World War, and as part of our real life outcome for our learning theme we are hoping to take the children to a local residential care home to perform war time songs – details to follow later in the term.
I am available on the playground in the mornings before or after school if you would like to chat to me about anything. I look forward to getting to know you all.
