Welcome to Reception!
We hope you are looking forward to a fun-filled and busy year in the Foundation phase. All of the children have settled in brilliantly and we are excited about all of the learning experiences ahead of us.
The children have been given their book bags and blue communication folders. Reading books will be given to children in the next few weeks. Please ensure that the book bags (and reading books, once they have them) are brought to school every day. Reading books will be changed twice a week, once they have been signed to say they have been shared at home. The blue communication folders will go home on a Friday with any letters for the week. Any slips or money that need to be handed in can be returned in these folders on Monday morning.
Our PE lessons will be on a Monday, however please ensure that a fully labelled PE kit is in school at all times (white t-shirt, black shorts, plimsolls, and tracksuit in cold weather).
Phonics lessons will start at the end of September. There will be more details on how to support your child with this later in the term.
Our learning theme for the start of this term is
Our learning will focus on what we are like as individuals and how everybody is unique and special. We will talk about our likes and dislikes and our families. We will learn about our bodies and how we stay healthy and safe.
After that we plan to set sail in search of gold and adventures in our topic of
As pirates we will explore different lands, seas and hopefully find some hidden treasures! Let’s hope nobody will need to walk the plank!!
After half term we will move on to learning about special celebrations, including Diwali and Christmas. We will think about how we celebrate in our families and then compare this to other families.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Miss Brooks, Mrs Monsey, Mrs Sorensen or any other member of the Foundation Phase staff.
